You may or may not have heard, but the Military standard Mil-PRF-131K Class 1 has been updated. 3D Barrier Bags, Inc was notified to this change due to our close relationship with the US Naval Lab. As of April 10, 2022, the military performance standard is now Mil-PRF-131L Class 1. This does not affect the material in any way however, this information is vital to know.
Mil-PRF-131L Class 1 material will still refer to the material being heat-sealable, greaseproof, flexible barrier materials having low water vapor transmission characteristics for use in military packaging. The main reason for the revision to the spec was the elimination of Class 2. The class 2 specification materials were listed as Kraft paper, laminated to foil and plastic.
In order to keep you informed with the most up-to-date information, this is important for you to know. As of now, we will continue to use our stock of Mil-PRF-131K Class 1 materials. However, once the stock runs out, you will notice the red writing on your materials will be revised to say “Mil-PRF-131L Class 1”.
