What are Gaylord Box Liners?

When it comes to transporting goods around, it is important to ensure that they are packaged properly, and that means using the most appropriate materials for each job that you undertake. When it comes to transporting larger items, or indeed lots of smaller items in a larger shipment, then large pallet style boxes are the best way of doing this.

The box on its own may not, however, offer sufficient protection to your cargo, and this is where Gaylord liners can prove to be a very important and useful item of packing equipment. Made from a multi-layer laminate, these foil liners offer effective protection against moisture and atmospheric changes.

Where does the name come from?

The term gaylord is often used in both Canada and the US to refer to a style of box that has a triple corrugated wall. The name stems from the first boxes of this type that were originally manufactured by the Gaylord Container Company which was based in St. Louis. In 1955, the Gaylord company was obtained by a San Francisco company, Crown Zellerbach. The name Gaylord has, however, stuck and is still used today to describe the type of liners that are used to line these larger boxes used to transport goods.

What are the benefits?

The Gaylord liner is manufactured to the specifications of a customer so that it provides a good fit within the outer corrugated layer of the box it is being used for. At 3D Barrier Liners Inc, we not only offer our clients a wide range of Gaylord liners with a very fast turnaround but also with a variety of other options as well.

Depending on what you intend to pack in your box, we can offer you the choice of either open topped Gaylord liners or liners that come with a filling spout. The filling spout can be a very useful tool when it comes to closed-system filling as it can make the process a lot simpler as well as reducing the sealing time, all of which can be very beneficial for the contents of the box.

Gaylord liners are manufactured from a multi-layer laminate – including an aluminium layer – which offers you a barrier that can protect whatever is packed inside the box against both moisture and vapor; both of which may have a detrimental effect on your products.

In addition to all of these features, the liners are incredibly durable and can help to keep your cargo clean, safe and secure – ensuring that it arrives at its destination in the best possible condition. To find out more about this product, contact us today.
